Well, I'm not sure any sacred texts haven't been misread, misused, or be difficult to read and use properly.
You recite ordinary T.V.-type information, but for scholars the Bible might've been written in a short period of time, a few centuries, by a literary community- possibly the Dead Sea Scrolls folks. It offers itself as, not a history, but a "riddle" (Ezekiel 17:2).
A lot of it concerns the Jewish Temple, a set of references poorly understood or not at all. The one book clearly aimed at non-Jewish followers is 1 John, a summary of the Jesus teachings. The refrain is: "love one another."
