The Sodom/sex interpretation is key to all Evangelical theology, I think. It was a message to everyone that God monitors thinking and touching, never “slow to judgment” but judging on site.

Scholarship on the Sodom narrative is very good, noting its full of details the sex-obsessed are blinded to — I was surprised to see here that it’s Abraham who suggests the city be destroyed, and before the angels get there. A great paper.
