As Christians in church are trained to judge, the hair is obviously the first point of judgement.
I’ve recently been doing a study of the harridan moralist Elisabeth Elliot, who wore her hair tightly bundled. The recent book, Devotedly, has what her daughter notes is a rare image of EE (taken by Jim Elliot her husband) with hair unbundled, and suggests even in private one rarely saw her otherwise.
