Adam & Eve aren’t really identified as husband & wife, and in fact there’s no Greek or Hebrew word for ‘husband’ and ‘wife’- it’s just the words for man and woman and the translator is busy in the background. Adam and Eve are just humans — the same human split into two, in the longstanding Jewish view — and they’re told to reproduce to continue the species. They’re never a sacred dyad, never best friends, never yin/yang, never completing each other, etc. As in Gal 3:28 there’s no ‘male or female’ in the Christian covenant. We’re just humans loving each other in the family of God. As in 1 Timothy 5:4, in the biological family people “put their religion into practice…” No special spiritual status. The family that matters is the Family of God.
