A Bible scholar noted that as the theme of Sodom is inhospitality it’s ironic for the Sodom story to become so inhospitable to gays. But I realize on reading your piece that, by extension, gays become the angels- entering the churches that want to see them raped and dead. In consequence, the Sodomites—always the people in power, the “men of the city”—become blind, having been blind all along to the divinity in their midst.
